Anxiety Treatment - Understanding Anxiety

 You can have many different types of anxiety. Examples of common anxiety disorders are generalized anxiety disorder, specific phobias, separation anxiety and panic disorder. In some cases anxiety may result from a medical problem that requires immediate attention. It is best to seek help for your anxiety if you are experiencing any or all of the following symptoms: constant worrying about something that cannot be cured, irritability, difficulty concentrating, feeling unreal or detached from your surroundings, being easily startled, having difficulty sleeping or falling asleep or having an unusual amount of restlessness and waking up too early in the morning. Generalized anxiety disorder is the most common type of anxiety disorder affecting millions of people worldwide. In general it is the inability to face typical stressful situations. Examples of stress-related anxiety are frequent headaches, tension, restlessness, fear of failure, social anxiety, post-traumatic Stress disorder and worrying about future life events such as marriage or divorce. People with generalized anxiety disorders are also at a higher risk for depression and substance abuse.

These worries can lead to severe physical and psychological manifestations such as heart palpitations, chest pain, nausea, sweating and dizziness. When a person experiences anxiety, they start to worry that they may die because of their anxiety or they may get an illness because of their anxiety. Talking to your doctor about this type of fear can be very helpful in alleviating some of the symptoms of your anxiety.


Some people that do not seek treatment for their anxiety disorders experience panic attacks that are very intense and feel very terrifying. These attacks can happen all of a sudden and you might feel like you are about to die. You can feel like you are losing control and that you are about to lose everything. If you have these intense panic attacks, talk to your doctor about what you are experiencing and they may be able to prescribe some medications that can help you with your anxiety.


There are many different types of symptoms that a person can experience with anxiety. These symptoms include depression, anger, agoraphobia, extreme fear, restlessness, and many other types of symptoms. Symptoms can range from minor things such as stomach aches to more severe things like heart palpitations, chest pains, dizziness, and even fainting. If you feel like you have any of these common anxiety symptoms and you start to have panic attacks, you should see a doctor right away. The sooner you seek treatment, the better your chances of feeling better.
